The best way to learn how to write a script is to read as many scripts as you can, in as many formats as you can. We've featured tons of screenplays here before, but this is a real embarrassment of riches, courtesy of Go Into The Story. Time was, it was difficult for anyone outside of Hollywood to lay their hands on legit screenplays then, with the birth of the internet, scripts were everywhere, but with the proliferation of screenplays came an equal divergence in quality: some were just plain inaccurate, while others were early drafts that were discarded long before cameras started rolling. Everyone loves them, and today, we're giving you 100s of them, all free, and all legal.
Note: (Most should have seeders but if they don't just let it run a few days and hopefully a seeder will log on).Scripts. I'll list some great torrents when I get home but for some quick hits, simply Google the following: If you want a good torrent client, use utorrent. There are huge packs of unreleased scripts (containing 10-150 scripts) floating around on torrent sites.
The idea here is that you simply make a request in the comments with your email or PM and someone will send it to you anonymously. Let's try and keep a revolving list of great sites. Over time you'll develop a sense of what a "fake download site" is and which links are or are not spam. This is just a fake example, but in that case, you would use quotations and your Google query would read as follows: "PitchBlackscreenplayWheat.pdf" <- be sure to use the quotations.
For example, let's say the Pitch Black script pdf was circulating as PitchBlackscreenplayWheat.pdf. Similar to the second bullet above, in your preliminary searching, you may come across some fake download sites, or some other sites where you learn the exact name of the script file. Similar to the first bullet above, you may want to put the name of the script within quotations in order to receive a much more targeted search. You can trying throwing the word "download" in as well. Some films share titles with popular phrases or names that may impede your Google searching so by adding the screenwriter's name, you end up with a much more targeted search (for you science nerds, this increases your search's specificity).
Simply change the script name and otherwise copy the query character for character (without the numbers of course).Īs seen in step 12, you can add the term "Wheat" to any of the above queries (steps 1-8) Wheat is the last name of one of the authors (you can use full names or last names, whatever works). I'll give a list of a number of different queries that will give you over 90% success in finding a script if that script is in fact online. The trick is knowing how to search for it. Perhaps we can add this to the sidebar (or just quietly keep this in your back pocket).Ī great number of scripts can be found through the magic of Google. This will be an iterative guide so please if I miss anything just add it in the comments and I will continually update. I keep seeing a lot of posts about finding scripts so I put together a guide for helping folks find scripts online.
